Announcing Further Details of the Cornfest Fun Run

Details for the 1st Annual Cornfest Fun Runs.

Date 8/9/08

Start time: Due to the single row nature of the course this will be a staggered start event.
The first participant will be allowed in the field beginning at 6:00AM.
Remaining participants will be allowed in the field throughout the day.

Participants may choose from two courses. The 5K (3.1 Miles) or 10K (6.2 Miles)
Any runner who would like to run greater distances may do so by entering the adjacent field following their selected event.

Course descriptions:

5K (3.1 Miles) is primarily a flat course with a slight rise along the highway at 1.4 miles.

10K (6.2 Miles) is a bit more challenging with two step platforms placed on the course.

I know that many of you are saying WOW I can’t wait, how do I sign up. Registration is simple. Just leave a comment here or over on Snowy Tundra saying “I’m in” and which distance you have chosen. I will be posting a list of those who sign up and their chosen distances on the Big Boy sign.

The simple truth of this virtual meet event.

Agree that wherever you are on Saturday August 9th you are committed to finishing one of these distances under a 16:00 minute pace. However, I encourage you to put in your best effort and finish at your best possible pace. Who knows, you may surprise yourself.

On race day, post your results in the comment section you will find on this blog. All finishers will receive a virtual Corn Cob key ring.

I'm totally in - but I have a question. Do we have to "run" the entire thing or can we "wog"?

If run- I'm in for the 5k
If wog- I'm in for 10 miles, yes miles.

Matt,
Of course you can wog. Just keep your overall pace under 16.
Should not be difficult.
3.1 miles in 49 minutes or less.
6.2 miles in 99 minutes or less.

Rae!,
I believe you mean "Sweet Corn"

For an additional challenge you must tell corny jokes the whole time running/wogging/blogging/flogging(ouch)/polywogging

I'm in for the 10k :-)

A duck walks into a bar and asks the bartender for corn. The bartender says "We have no corn, get out of here." So the duck leaves. The next day he comes back and asks for corn again, and the bartender says "I told you, we
don't have any corn! Get out!" So the duck leaves. The next day he goes in again and asks for corn, and the bartender says, "For the last time, we don't have corn! If you ever come back, I'm going to nail those webbed feet of yours to the floor!" So the duck leaves. The next day the duck comes and
asks, "Do you have any nails?" The bartender says, "No, of course not. Why would a bar have nails?" The duck then says, "Good. Then can I have some
corn?"

I'd like to do the 10K, although mine will be on Wade Mountain here, so it will not "virtually" be as flat as a true Iowa cornfield.
