First of all let me say thank you to your town Agriculture Technician Jeff W. for allowing me to drop by and share a post with you.
I'll start by introducing myself. My name is Bryan Cornfeld and I'm a resident of Beaconsfield, Iowa. In addition I'm also the Ringgold County championship marathon runner. I also hold the current title of Iowa State Pie Eating Champion. But this year I've decided to run in the Walt Disney World half-marathon. And as part of my training I've decided to save money on airfare and just run my way to Florida.
With the race less than 2 weeks away I'm currently in Jacksonville, Florida. Who knows, maybe I'll get there a little early. That will give me some time to ride the new refurbished Haunted Mansion to see what updates have been done. It's not every day us Iowa-folk get to go to Disney World.
So you may be asking yourself what has been my motivation and what keeps me going on the road to Walt Disney World. Well I hear the food at Disney is to die for. I've eve heard there are places that rival some of the good old-fashioned home cooked food that we enjoy so much back in Iowa.
Once place in particular I'm looking forward to putting to the test is the Liberty Tree Tavern. Their "Declaration salad" with strawberry vinaigrette dressing, roast turkey breast, smoked pork loin, and mashed potatoes have got my mouth watering just thinking about it.
We've been supplying fresh Iowa vegetables to The Garden Grill restaurant at Epcot since way back in the day when it used to be called The Good Turn. They claim that their growing their own vegetables now at Epcot in The Land pavilion but don't let them fool you. Only real midwest farmers can produce the fine vegetables that they serve there.
But probably what the dining experience I'm looking forward to most during my trip is going to be at O'hana's at Disney's Polynesian Resort. I’m not sure if they can even grow corn in the Polynesian islands but, and I can't believe I'm saying this, who needs corn when you've got Sirloin Steak, Asian Barbecued Pork Loin, Grilled turkey, and Hawaiian Sausage? Even the appetizers are enough to sell the farm for. My favorite is the fried Wontons with peanut dipping sauce.
The breakfast there is pretty amazing as well. Eggs, island style fried potatoes, pork sausage, bacon, various types of breads, and let's not forget the passion juice. I don't even know what's in this stuff but it's fantastic! And when you're done you can run a couple of laps around the Seven Seas Lagoon. Or if you're one of those lightweights you can just catch the monorail right off the main lobby of the Polynesian and it'll take you right to the Magic Kingdom.
Well thanks for letting me stop by and share my thoughts. I got to run now-No pun intended. I hear Bryan Ripper from the All About the Mouse Disney podcast lives here somewhere and they say his Desperate Mousewife Amy is a pretty darn good cook. All this running sure makes a fella hungry.
See ya round folks!

Good Luck Mr Cornfield on your marathon adventure. Please let us know about your culinary adventures as well.
I hope that you can make Mousefest next year. It would be good to get another Iowan's perpective on the MF spectacle.
