Beaconsfield Iowan In Space


Dear readers, I failed to make a very important connection when Bryan Cornfeld announced he is from Beaconsfield. It turns out that this small town with a current population of 11 is also the hometown of Peggy A. Whitson a NASA Astronaut.
She is currently serving a six month tour of duty aboard the International Space Station as the ISS Commander for Expedition 16. The crew launched on Oct. 10, 2007 aboard a Soyuz TMA-11 spacecraft, docking with the station on Oct. 12, 2007. This is Whitson’s second long-duration spaceflight.
